Book launch
On Friday, 31 October 2025, at 6:30 p.m., the Federal Archives – Stasi Records Archive invites you to the next campus debate at the former Stasi headquarters in Berlin-Lichtenberg.
The focus will be on the book premiere of ‘Political Girl – Life and Fate in Putin's Russia’ by Maria Alyokhina, member of the Russian protest group Pussy Riot.
Together with journalist Katja Gloger and Prof. Dr. Daniela Münkel (Federal Archives), Alyokhina will talk about courage, protest and artistic resistance in authoritarian Russia – and about parallels to the experiences of the political opposition in the GDR.
The event will take the form of a performance book launch: Maria Alyokhina will read passages from her book, accompanied by a live sound performance by Eric Breitenbach, performer of the Riot Days shows. With electronic sound design, music and projections, Breitenbach creates an atmosphere that brings the themes and emotions of the book to life.
A book table will offer the opportunity to purchase ‘Political Girl’ before its official release date.
Admission is free.
Location: Haus 22, Campus für Demokratie – Ruschestr. 103, Berlin-Lichtenberg
(U5 Magdalenenstraße, access not barrier-free)
