History and Culture in a country side village flair

The Alt-Marzahn Museumsgut is located in the heart of the historic village green and combines history, culture, and community in a special place. The complex consists of a former three-sided courtyard, which was supplemented in 1990 by a functional workshop area. The first conversion of the farmstead into a cultural site began back in the GDR era as part of the careful redesign of the village center of Alt-Marzahn. As part of a community initiative to strengthen socially disadvantaged neighborhoods, the museum estate will be comprehensively renovated and further developed between 2023 and 2025. By 2027, a modern, inviting cultural and educational location with a special village flair will be created here. In addition to exciting exhibitions on regional and cultural history, visitors can expect a diverse museum education program for all age groups – from school classes to families and senior citizens. At the site, the Marzahn-Hellersdorf Museum works closely with Agrarbörse Deutschland Ost e.V. – a long-standing partner that plays a key role in shaping cultural life on the farm. In the front building, a small, lovingly run café invites visitors to linger: it is an open cultural venue that not only offers culinary delights but also creates space for creative encounters. In the KreativCafé, at reading afternoons, homework help sessions, the games café, or the painting workshop, culture is brought to life in an everyday context. Changing small exhibitions complement the offerings. The fixed highlights of the year include popular events such as the Easter market, the art and ceramics market, and the atmospheric Advent market, which have made the museum estate famous far beyond the district. The charming art and ceramics barn “SchaMottchen” is also located directly on the museum estate grounds. Here, everything revolves around creative design: pottery courses, ceramics workshops, and handmade unique pieces make the barn a special attraction for visitors interested in art – whether beginners or advanced. With its successful combination of history, art, education, and lively neighborhood, the Alt-Marzahn Museum Estate is a place with heart – open to anyone interested in the past, present, and future of their district. A real gem in eastern Berlin that invites you to discover, exchange ideas, and get involved. A few steps further on, you will find the Marzahn Animal Farm—a three-sided farmstead built by Palatinate colonists almost 300 years ago. The listed farmstead is run as a typical farm from around 1900. In the animal enclosures and paddocks, you can see farm animals from horses to ducks and learn interesting facts about species-appropriate husbandry and the proper handling of animals. The preservation of endangered and threatened farm animal breeds is important to us.
