Book Premiere, Reading and Talk

At 5 p.m., the doors to "Café Antike" on Pariser Platz will open: With ancient Greek recitations and refreshing drinks, the world of myth will be brought out of its jar.

The Academy of Arts Pariser Platz invites you to sit down at four moderated themed tables, join in the discussion, and reflect on the significance of antiquity today.

Starting at 7 p.m., Ulrike Draesner will read from her new book, "Penelopes Sch()iff," and discuss it with Aris Fioretos, Jonas Grethlein, and Karen Leeder.

The book tells the story of an adventurous female journey through the Aegean Sea. This voyage extends far beyond the ancient epic. Not only the queen, but also her daughters and slaves have their say. The ship barely sets sail when the familiar social order collapses. How can we live together without oppression? How can we find a productive coexistence despite old wounds?
