Experience the early days of film live: The current show by the Studio für Historischen Tanz tells the story of the filming of Ernst Lubitsch's ‘Madame du Barry’ and Carl Froelich's ‘Königin Luise’.
Embedded in an exciting storyline, dances from the Rococo, Empire and 1920s are performed in splendid costumes and diverse choreographies, bringing the past back to life.
On the film sets of the historical films, rehearsals are held for dance scenes that are intended to illustrate the character of the respective period. Historical costumes and authentic choreographies serve as a backdrop for the stars Pola Negri and Henny Porten. But will the directors be satisfied and will the actresses learn the choreographies? In any case, there will be a merry celebration after the end of filming.
DAS STUDIO FÜR HISTORISCHEN TANZ BERLIN (SHT) E. V. has a wide-ranging repertoire of dances from the Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Empire, Biedermeier, Gründerzeit and 1920s eras, which is constantly being expanded in line with historical sources, and revives the atmosphere of each period through its staging. Since 1996, the SHT has regularly performed full-length programmes and offers further programmes for private and public festivities.
