Since the annexation of Crimea in 2014, Russia has been waging an information war against Germany and other Western countries. Over the years, it has created a network of journalists, politicians, and business representatives who defend Russia's imperial policies in public and promote understanding for Vladimir Putin's leadership.

Susanne Spahn lives in Berlin and works as an Eastern European historian, political scientist, and journalist. She studied Eastern European history, Slavic studies, and political science at the universities of St. Petersburg and Cologne. She worked as a business editor and freelance correspondent in Moscow, later earning her doctorate with a thesis on Russia's foreign policy toward Ukraine and Belarus. In 2021, she analyzed the Sputnik V vaccination campaign for the European Parliament.


On September 30, there will be a supplementary seminar with concrete examples, analyses, and recent research at the Frohnau teaching center (course number: Re1202-H).
