A walk through the history of the Berlin district between everyday life and protest with historian Nairi Mercadanti.
Hardly any other part of Berlin is as well suited as Prenzlauer Berg to tell the story of the city and the development of its social fabric. The inner courtyards of this district were once intended for the working class, which played a central role in the industrial development of the late 19th century. These places witnessed a gradual transformation that led to the emergence of new forms of political resistance during the years of the GDR.
From Pfefferberg to Kulturbrauerei and Hirschhof, the walk takes you through 150 years of Berlin history - with a tongue-in-cheek look at Prenzlauer Berg's migration history and its most visible consequences.
