The series kicks off with an event featuring author and literary scholar Daniela Dröscher. She will be reading excerpts from her 2018 memoir "Zeige deine Klasse. The story of my social background", which provides an unusually precise insight into her socialization and the life of a West German upwardly mobile family in rural areas: Father and mother relationships, education, educational paths and differences, language and means of expression, distance from and dissociation from the milieu of origin, life in the middle class.
The reading is linked to a discussion with Renate Flagmeier about the literary treatment of class experiences and the "Check your habitus" project.
