Expert guided tour with Dr. Susanne Evers, curator for textiles, and Ute Rönnecke, textile conservator, both SPSG
Using the precious textiles in the Marble Palace as an example, the art historical and restoration techniques will be presented at selected stations.
Due to the palace's use over several generations, the textile furnishings have been repeatedly altered. Therefore, only a few original fabrics from wall coverings, curtains, and furniture upholstery from the time the Marble Palace was built have survived.
How is it possible today to restore the royal private rooms to their original appearance? How do we know what the textile furnishings looked like? These and other questions will be answered during a special tour of the Marble Palace.
