Music by Camille Saint-Saëns, Texts by Ferdinand Lemaire

Camille Saint-Saëns’ opera *Samson et Dalila* tells the story of Samson, a Hebrew who rebels against Philistine rule and seeks to liberate his people. Thanks to the strength bestowed upon him by God, he is considered nearly invincible. However, when he falls in love with the Philistine woman Dalila, he becomes vulnerable, for she discovers the secret of his strength.

The result is a dramatic tale of love, betrayal, faith, and the loss of one’s identity.
