Experience Berlin through fascinating perspectives on architecture and urban development. The walking tours are designed by architects and shed light on the background of current construction projects and their diverse connections to, for example, (architectural) history. Berlin’s only surviving old town is not located in the city center, but
right next to it.

The neighborhood around the Hackesche Höfe attracts the most tourists next to the Brandenburg Gate. But visitors only discover the true secrets of the so-called Spandauer Vorstadt when they wander through the hidden courtyards, parks, and small squares. In the former Jewish Scheunenviertel, a vibrant art and gallery scene has developed, residing in old factories or in narrow vacant lots with strikingly high-quality architecture. Countless small shops, restaurants, advertising agencies, and architecture firms are driving gentrification and enhancing the labyrinthine neighborhood with its winding streets and hidden courtyards.

Right in the middle lies the famous Volksbühne, built at the beginning of the 20th century and still today one of the most influential theater stages. Architecturally framed by residential buildings designed by the famous godfather of Modernism: Hans Poelzig.
