BIKINI Berlin
Germany’s first concept mall
It’s not just another shopping mall: Bikini Berlin is the first concept mall in Germany, with exciting boutiques, flagship stores and restaurants.
You can find high-quality fashion and shoes here, as well as modern design – not the big chains. There are around 20 wooden modules known as pop-up boxes, where shops and young start-up businesses can temporarily present their products. This means you’ll always discover something new. The mall and the large terrace look out over the monkey enclosure in the zoo. From the NENI restaurant and the Monkey Bar, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the city.
In January 2018 an innovative food market opened at Bikini Berlin - the KANTINI. Thirteen food stalls designed as modular counters by star designer Werner Aisslinger are the centerpiece of the area. Enjoy the loggia with panoramic windows to the zoo, a spacious sofa area, various sitting steps and swings overlooking the ground floor. The Bikini Haus is a listed ensemble of buildings from the 1950s. It gets its name from its unusual architecture with an open colonnade in the middle.
At the Zoologischer Garten
The opening of Bikini Berlin changed completely the whole area between the Zoologischer Garten and Kurfürstendamm. The renovated Zoo Palast cinema returned to the glory of its 1950s heyday. The Gedächtniskirche ha also been restored. Two high-rise hotels transformed the Kurfürstendamm skyline and attracted a new type of visitor. The local council is also giving the Zoologischer Garten railway station a facelift. The eyesores next to the station have been pulled down to make way for new buildings – and new shopping and leisure opportunities. Take a look for yourself!
