This year, the focus of the winter break week is the voice as an instrument that people always have with them. In various workshops, children will discover the many possibilities of using their voices and develop their own sounds and music, which they will present at the end of the week on February 7, 2026, in the carpentry workshop.

The following workshops are available:

Workshop 1: Choir – Join In

If you can speak, you can sing! And when you sing together with others in a choir and let your voice resonate within a group, it can sound especially beautiful and feel wonderful. Try singing lively rounds and fun or dreamy songs in our winter break choir workshop. The workshop is led by Rosemarie Arzt.

Workshop 2: Choir – Make It Yourself

You don't necessarily need pre-made songs to sing together. Participants can also invent what they want to sing on the spot! Or they can adapt songs however they like. In this lab, participants learn musical sign languages to conduct themselves, create music together, and make it sound really good. Let's explore together what a choir can be like when everyone contributes ideas and helps out! The lab is led by Hannah Ewald.

Lab 3: Rap

In the Rap Lab, you can try rapping—no prior experience necessary. Participants listen to beats, play with rhythm and words, and discover together how different voices can sound. They write simple lyrics, practice flows and structures, and develop a song step by step where your ideas matter. The result is a short performance or a collaborative track. Here you can be creative and try something new. The lab is led by Ali Konyali.

Lab 4: Voice & Electronics

The voice is an incredibly versatile musical instrument. We can speak words, sing, and make sounds. And when we record these sounds, even more is possible: A single voice can become an entire choir or an instrument that can be played on a keyboard. Participants explore the possibilities of voice and electronics, collaboratively developing sound collages and musical pieces. The workshop is led by Gisbert Schürig.
