Listen for the buzzing of wild bees and discover their diversity and fascinating way of life.

When people talk about bee decline, many first think of the honeybee. But in addition to the honeybee, there are numerous other bee species that do not live in large colonies and care for their offspring independently. These wild bees—also known as solitary bees—play a crucial ecological role: as pollinators of many wild and cultivated plants, they even outperform the honeybee in their effectiveness.

Moreover, fascinating lifestyles have developed among wild bees that are closely tied to specific plant species or habitats.

On a journey of discovery through Spreepark, you’ll learn exciting facts about the solitary relatives of the honeybee and get to know and discover their impressive diversity of colors, shapes, and behaviors.

We’ll also discuss how we can actively contribute to their protection in light of the endangered status of many wild bee species—so that their buzzing diversity can be preserved for the future.
