Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy
With The Marriage of Camacho, she guides us through an interplay of love, control, and serenity – only the eponymous wedding never materializes. The wedding does take place, however, and there's a celebration nonetheless.
In a condensed version lasting roughly one hour, the Privatoper Berlin presents its anniversary production, dedicating itself to the early works of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, who was just 16 years old.
Since 2014, the Privatoper Berlin has been bringing rarely performed operas to unusual venues. Founded by a group of music enthusiasts, within an intensive week of rehearsals, a miniature opera world is created that simultaneously reflects the wider world. "Privatoper" means direct, personal access to musical theater: opera by friends for friends. In this atmosphere of freedom, almost forgotten works have been rediscovered, compositions have been brought to life in new languages or forms, and premieres and world premieres have been realized.
