Max Prosa is a storyteller. If you listen to him alone on the guitar or piano, you can experience it in its purest form. Meret Becker has been working as a film actress and chansonette since she was 17 years old.
Max Prosa plays new and old songs, such as “Flügel”, which was created in 2012, but only reached a wide audience in 2020 through Egon Werler’s interpretation in the casting show “The Voice”. Also the new “Verschwende Dich”, which was interpreted as the theme song of the film “15 Years” by Hannah Herzsprung and thereby gained greater fame.
Behind these successes that are surfacing, Max Prosa has been sitting and working on his texts and songs for years, playing concerts and reading his poems, which he has collected in the new volume of poems “When we were a star image”, the first edition of which was sold out in a very short time .
The readers and listeners become a community; a bell forms around them that expands space and time. Max talks about mothers and sons, kings and thieves and of course about the big themes of the chanson: transience, passion and love. Always in his own way and in such a way that it touches everyone's heart
Meret Becker has been working as a film actress and chansonette since she was 17 years old. Over time, she also developed into an entertainer, musician, composer, music producer and artistic director of her concert programs.
Her self-description is performing artist, sound researcher and reprise clown. She is self-taught, has received numerous awards, lives in Berlin and France and is a single mother of an adult daughter. Meret Becker has been composing and writing her own music and songs since around 1995.
She usually keeps her compositions simple, often in a loop-like manner, and then layers them sonically. She often uses fine, quiet sounds, such as music boxes, glockenspiels, flagolet tones, glass harps or chelesters.
In addition to mechanical instruments, she is not afraid of electronic processing. She loves the pauses and the fragility in music. Nevertheless, their compositions can certainly build up into extensive, impressive pieces.
She describes her music, among other things, as “optical music” because it builds musical images, similar to film music, or music en miniature, which alludes to the minimalism she cultivates.
Accompanying herself largely will be a great challenge and fun, because apart from the singing saw she is not a virtuoso on any instrument. She uses the instruments she plays more purposefully and specifically as a tone color.
So now alone or in a duet with Max Prosa.
