“I am a flower of Sharon, a rose of the valley”—so begins a poem in the biblical Song of Solomon. Since time immemorial, humankind has sung of the beauty of flowers when the subject is actually love.
Around their own musical setting of “La Rosa de Saron,” the ensemble Sprezzatura 22 has woven a captivating program about love. The Basque singer June Telletxea, the percussionist Wolfgang Eger, and Andreas Arend with his self-designed bowed and plucked guitar move between diverse styles. Starting with Baroque music, they blend influences of Mediterranean folk music, Sephardic chants, folk, and jazz into a journey about love without limits.
Performers: Ensemble Sprezzatura: June Telletxea (vocals), Andreas Arend (lute, lyra polyversalis), Wolfgang Eger (percussion)
