Painting by Hafiza Qasimi
On Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 7 p.m., the Former Stasi Headquarters invites you to the opening of the exhibition "Hope for Life." The focus will be on the works of Afghan artist Hafiza Qasimi, which portray the lives of women in Afghanistan – women whose existence and rights are threatened under the Taliban regime. Her art is a moving expression of resistance, remembrance, and the hope for freedom.
The exhibition features photographs of earlier works created in Afghanistan, some of which had to be destroyed for security reasons, as well as new paintings from exile in Germany.
At the opening, Hafiza Qasimi, GDR opposition activist and photographer Tina Bara, and Hannah Neumann (MEP, Campus for Democracy Association) will speak about women's rights, artistic protest, and political courage.
The evening will feature musical accompaniment from the group "Tschiltan," playing traditional Central Asian music.
Before the event, there will be two guided tours (each at 6 p.m.) of the Stasi Records Archive and the GDR Opposition Archive.

- Online registration for the opening is required
The exhibition is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from June 12 to July 13, 2025.
