Two 14-year-old outsiders embark on a summer trip in a stolen Lada: Maik, a neglected boy from Marzahn, and Tschick, a Russian-German, a drunkard and thug who refuses to do anything.
Their journey across East Germany, which is soon joined by Isa from the garbage dump, becomes a coming-of-age story and an adventurous road movie.
Director Fatih Akin has adapted Wolfgang Herrndorf's bestselling novel into a fast-paced, funny, and deeply touching film. His young leads, Anand Batbileg and Tristan Göbel, received the 2017 Young Faces Award for their captivating performances.
The film topped the arthouse charts for eight weeks, a wonderful summer film for all generations and the last open-air screening at Ulme35 this year.
Free admission, doors open from 7:30 p.m.
Online reservation required.
A movie night in a lounge chair outside in the Ulme35 garden. Bring your own headphones (with a small jack). In case of bad weather, the film will be shown in the Ulme35 lecture hall.
