The light between the willows (BOOK PREMIERE)

Nikolaus is happily married - to Yella, the love of his life. While she pursues a career, he is a devoted househusband and looks after their two small children. Then his marriage breaks up overnight.

Completely uprooted, he sets off in his old Renault on an aimless journey that takes him back to his past: to his hometown of Hoyerswerda and his long-forgotten, tragic romance with the young musician Inken. In the end, he finds himself stranded where a story began that now wants to be told to the end.

An atmospheric road novel through the East German provinces and a magical novel about memory, loss and the return of the repressed.

Kristof Kannegießer was born in Halle/Saale in 1977 and grew up in Kleinmachnow. He studied German and journalism at the Free University of Berlin and then documentary film at the Film Academy in Ludwigsburg. Kristof Kannegießer lives in Wandlitz with his wife, children, dogs, cats, horses and donkeys. “Das Licht zwischen den Weiden” is his first published novel.

The Periplaneta TresenLesen: People read and talk. And drinking. It's about literature, art and the big questions. Entertaining, sometimes controversial and unpredictable in its dynamics.
