Opening of the special exhibition on cinematic perspectives on Berlin around 1990

Documentary short films and film and television excerpts from four decades provide rare insights into the profound changes. At the same time, contemporary artists explore those years from a contemporary perspective.

They examine the spatial and social continuities as well as the ruptures in a city that, like few other, embodies Europe's political history in the 20th century.

The several hours of film footage are embedded in a scaffolding landscape with a total of nine large-format screens in the museum.

Amidst the expansive media installation, the new special exhibition at the Museum Nikolaikirche – an authentic site of Berlin's democratic history – will open with discussions, music, and refreshments.
