A ritual from Palestine/Polesia in Belarus, handed down since 1159: During the "candle transfer" (Перанос Свечкі), villagers carry a candle made from the wax of many families in a solemn procession from house to house on the second day after Trinity Sunday.
For a year, it remains with a respected parishioner, where people pray, sing, and celebrate life together. Its path is decorated with embroidered linen cloths, young greenery, and flowers—symbols of community, protection, and change. The ceremony combines pre-Christian roots with Orthodox tradition.
Music by Johann Sebastian Bach, organ (Olga Podgaiskaya), soprano saxophone (Vitali Darashuk), projections (Sergey Novitsky), and photographs by Andrei Liankevich.
An evening between the archaic and the contemporary – proving that stones can breathe. And the wind sings.
