Based on Terry Riley’s revolutionary 1964 composition of the same name, the choreographer developed a choreographic score featuring 53 movement figures in an equally open structure in collaboration with 10 dancers in the spring of 2021.

The choreography combines a clear set of rules with structured improvisation, which gives the dancers room for individual freedom and ever-changing variations—thus making every performance unique. Central here, too, is the relationship between individual freedom and social responsibility, which the performers renegotiate anew time and again over the course of the evenings at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele—accompanied by the live, hypnotic, and energetic interpretation of “In C” by the Swiss post-industrial band “The Young Gods.”
