Gerd Natschinski, a master of melody, enchanted audiences with hits such as ‘Zwei gute Freunde’ (Fred Frohberg, 1957), ‘Damals’ (Bärbel Wachholz, 1959) and ‘Rom-ta-rom’ (Regina Thoss, 1971). His creative diversity is reflected in works such as the operetta ‘Messeschlager Gisela’ (1960) and the first GDR musical ‘Mein Freund Bunbury’ (1964).
Gerd Natschinski shaped an entire generation with his songs for children and young people and his unique role in GDR entertainment music in the 1960s and 70s.
