Get Creative in the Garden

Plant diversity is in flux. So are the natural and human sciences. The very definition of what a plant is is changing. This is not a botanical tour, but an encounter with the world of plants.

On this stroll through the garden, participants are guided by literature, philosophy, ecology, and art. Walking, reading aloud together, and noticing subtle nuances are all part of the “walk-shop.”

Participants watch the rock pear as they read. Nature writing authors share stories of their relationships with plants. Plants do not live alone. Microorganisms, fungi, and other life forms are part of the ecosystem. Participants become moss and, through it, experience how plants shape ecosystems. Inspired by literary texts, participants try out the perspectives of their companions. Small gestures bring them closer to an understanding of the forest, meadow, and moor.

At the end, everyone discusses their (reading) experiences and shares possible shifts in perspective from the viewpoint of ecology or art.

For anyone who enjoys reading and finds joy in nature and the art of mindfulness.
