Poetry & Hip-Hop brings spoken word artists, poets and rap acts together on one stage – without competition, but with plenty of room for creativity, spontaneity and exchange.
What began in a small bar in Munich in 2013 is now a nationwide series of events with stops in many German cities and now in Berlin.
Poetry & HipHop is an important platform that gives young and established artists alike a space to express themselves – diverse, political, loud and quiet at the same time. Spoken word artists such as Johnny Mahoro, Max Oswald, Matilda Jelitto and Diana Dewana have already performed on stage at this event series, as well as rap artists from Chima Ede and Roger Rekless to Keno from Moop Mama and John Known.
Lyric meets lyrics, poetry merges with punchlines – at Poetry & Hip-Hop on 18 September 2025 at Monarch Berlin, two worlds come together that have more in common than you might think. Spoken word artists and rap artists will take to the stage to share their texts, rhymes and stories – raw, honest, loud, quiet, political, personal.
Experience an evening full of word art, beats and emotions, live, local and with a message. Between freestyle sessions, poetic moments and musical surprises, Berlin celebrates its creative voice.
