With this qualification, the artist joins the ranks of the top names in the new generation of global beatboxers and brings Brazil’s name to the international hip-hop scene.

He secured his spot through a highly competitive international selection process based on video submissions—so-called “wildcards”—from artists in various countries. Among hundreds of participants, Penido stood out by placing 4th worldwide, securing a spot among the eight finalists who will compete against each other in the live battles in Berlin. This result officially ranks the Brazilian among the world’s best beatboxers in his category.

Penido: A talent born during the pandemic lockdown.

Penido lives in the midwest of Brazil, in the state of Goiás. He began beatboxing in February 2020 at the age of 14. Inspired by friends and international role models such as Codfish, Tomazacre, and D-Low, he developed a style characterized by deep bass and aggressive sounds. In 2020, he participated in his first online battle and began to rapidly develop within virtual communities, particularly during the pandemic lockdown.

His career features several key milestones:

2021: Reached the Top 21 in the Brazilian National Online Championship.

2022: Qualified for the Liga do Beat and reached the Top 8 in his first national championship in front of a live audience—a pivotal moment that solidified his goal of becoming a champion.

2023: Joined the music group CJC, an experience that expanded his artistic vision and technical prowess.

December 2023: He reached his peak by becoming the Brazilian beatbox champion, making him the first national champion from the state of Goiás. That same week, he won two additional competitions, an unprecedented achievement on the national scene.

Since winning the national title, Penido has performed at festivals, hip-hop events, and in the media, while maintaining his focus on rigorous training to conquer the international stage.
