Learning to shape the future
Human-Centered Design places people at the center of the innovation process. The goal is to develop solutions that are truly needed. In this workshop, you’ll dive deep into the issue, develop empathy for different perspectives, and design initial prototypes for more climate-friendly agriculture.
In terms of content, you will explore the question of how agriculture can become more climate-friendly without jeopardizing food security.
Agriculture is both a contributor to and a victim of climate change. It must adapt to continue ensuring stable yields—while simultaneously finding ways to contribute to climate protection itself. The focus is on approaches that are practical, equitable, and sustainable.
In this workshop, participants will look ahead to agriculture in the year 2040:
-> How can agriculture adapt to climate change?
-> What policy frameworks and societal changes are needed?
-> How can agriculture itself contribute to climate protection?
Together, participants will develop innovative ideas and design initial prototypes for a sustainable agriculture.
The event is part of the workshop series “Learning to Shape the Future,” which takes place once a month as part of the Open Lab Evening. Over the course of four modules, you’ll learn well-established methods for shaping the future, which you can compile into your own personalized toolkit for the future.
What is an Open Lab Evening?
Every Thursday, things get creative at the Lab. You’ll learn methods like Design Thinking and Future Storytelling, try out 3D printers and laser cutters, and get a behind-the-scenes look at Lab projects. There’s something new every week.
Workshop Facilitator
The Berlin Ideas Lab is a lab for transformation design. The team supports organizations in the design process of sustainable product and service innovations as well as desirable visions of the future using methods from futures studies, design thinking, and visual storytelling.
