Artistic research project in the Krämerwald on the topic of non-violence, coexistence and equality of all life forms
As part of an interdisciplinary research project, the idea of authorship is being reimagined as a collective, communicative process. Interactive formats with participants, artists, animals, and plants are the focus – all of whom are understood as equal actors in the artistic creative process.
- Research project by Christl Mudrak – hosted by Animal House Art Projects e.V. – supported by the Kunstfonds Foundation.
A piece of forest, characterized by human intervention and management, serves as an experimental site for this artistic exploration. Here, principles of nonviolence toward all life forms are explored using performative, installation-based, and research-based approaches.
- What would it mean if all beings and materials in this space were considered equal from a human perspective?
- What new forms of coexistence and action would emerge from this?
Over several years, international artists have been invited to develop works based on the guiding principle of cooperative, nonviolent coexistence. In parallel, public tours, performances, workshops, lectures, and interventions regularly take place on the site, exploring the topic from ecological, social, and artistic perspectives.
Long-term projects & interventions:
Martin G. Schicht, Tatiana Echeverri Fernandez, Natalia Medebach, Klara Hobza, Sophie-Therese Trenka-Dalton, Markus Wüste, Kirsten Palz, Monika Jarecka
Location, Arrival & Participation Information
The exhibition will take place in the Krämerwald forest near Berlin – a location that is not just a backdrop, but an active part of the project: both a habitat and a participant.
You can reach the forest by car and public transport. Parking is available on site. Alternatively, you can reach the forest by taking the regional train lines RB10, RE2, or RB14 to Nauen Central Station. From there, a free shuttle service to the event location is offered.
To reserve a seat on the shuttle, please contact the team in advance by email. As the event approaches, please also provide your expected arrival time in Nauen so that transfers can be coordinated accordingly.
For those who prefer an active approach, you can also take a 40-minute bike ride through the forests of Brandenburg from Nauen station.
Please note: the terrain is close to nature and partly uneven. Sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are therefore recommended.
By participating, participants agree that photographs and videos may be taken during the event, which may be used to document and communicate the project.
Participants are asked to respect the forest as an equal stakeholder in this process. This means, among other things, that smoking is not permitted on the premises and that participants enter the area carefully and at their own risk – always with consideration for all living beings.
In this context, the Brandenburg Forest Act (LWaldG Bbg) applie
