Reading as part of "Bühnentausch 2025" at the Museum Reinickendorf
Ukrainian poetry cuts to the core and allows listeners to physically experience what it tells. However, Ukrainian poets today are not only active in literary terms. Some are directly involved in relief efforts on the front lines, risking their lives in the process. Some never return.
Among them is the young, charismatic poet Victoria Amelina, whose most impressive poems are presented here.
Special attention is given to the works of Peace Prize winner Serhiy Zhadan, written since the beginning of the war in 2014. Initially silenced after the start of the full-scale invasion, completely new poems by him were published in German in November 2024 under the title "Chronicle of One's Own Breath."
But viewers will also experience the great creative power of Ukrainian poetry in the works of a multitude of other Ukrainian poets.
