through the Charlottenburg neighborhood with Marianne Mielke

"Schloss, Park, Arbeiterkiez" - Around the Käthe Kollwitz Museum.

An encounter with art, architecture and Charlottenburg's "Red Island".

On Saturday afternoon, 14 October 2023, you are invited to let the experienced journalist and city guide Marianne Mielke lead you through the neighbourhood around the Käthe Kollwitz Museum. During the walk you will learn interesting facts about Charlottenburg Palace and its park, the Electress Sophie Charlotte and Klausenerplatz, the neighbourhood opposite the Palace. You will gain interesting insights into the working-class neighbourhood, where almost all the backyards were home to handicraft businesses, carts, cowsheds or real factory buildings such as the sausage factory at Knobelsdorffstraße 15. The traditional Engelhardt brewery brewed its "Charlottenburger Pilsener" in Danckelmannstraße until 1983.

The tour concludes with a visit to the Kollwitz Museum and a short guided tour of the collection presentation by director Dr. Josephine Gabler.
