En–Knap / Emese Cuhorka / Csaba Molnár
Inspired by Bauhaus aesthetics, the dancers play with objects and movements, thereby questioning notions of the body.
A “masterwork” traditionally refers to a brilliant, outstanding work of art. In the choreography by Emese Cuhorka and Csaba Molnár, however, the term takes on a more immediate meaning:
It is about the dancers’ bodies, which are both celebrated and challenged. Objects serve as costumes and provoke whimsical movements, while the boundaries between bodies and objects dissolve.
“MASTERWORK FOR SIX DANCERS” is inspired by Oskar Schlemmer’s “Das Triadische Ballett” and the Bauhaus aesthetic, and makes a playful attempt to liberate the body from the meanings projected onto it.
