An evening of theatrical chanson performances

An exceptionally sensitive evening awaits you: Jakob Gühring invites you on a scenic and musical journey through the chanson of the decades from 1950 to 1980. With voice, piano, guitar, and accordion, he transforms musical memories into vivid narratives – carried by the texts of great thinkers.

In a captivating interplay, chansons meet the intellectual worlds of Simone de Beauvoir and Julio Cortázar. Their philosophical, moral, and poetic reflections on idealism, the realism of life, and the essence of Paris form the textual framework and are playfully interwoven with the songs and their performers.

The evening takes the audience from France through Switzerland to Italy – a literary and musical ramble through Europe, through emotional landscapes ranging from love to anger, lightness to transience. A unique feature: The songs are not only sung but also explored through theatrical performance. The stories behind the melodies unfold like little plays, revealing new emotional depths.
