The confrontation with his father is a life-and-death duel; the son actually stands no chance in this battle—he is too weak, too small, too flat-chested—but since he throws himself into this battle like David against Goliath, with all his cleverness, his keen insight, his tenacity, and his grotesque humor, he may yet have something like a sliver of a chance.
Anette Daugardt and Uwe Neumann portray this gripping struggle in their own adaptation, from various perspectives and in alternating roles.
