Through the night at the Humboldt Forum

During the Lange Nacht der Museen, the Humboldt Forum invites you to a night full of love. This year the Humboldt Forum is part of the Berlin Long Night of Museums. From 6 pm onwards, the Humboldt Forum looks forward to your visit.

After dusk you will enter the Schlüter Courtyard through portals illuminated in rainbow colours, which as always invites you to linger. You will be able to see a concert of light shooting its beams far into the Berlin night sky from afar.

The air-conditioned foyer invites you to dance or chill to the rhythms of DJ Daniel Wang during this long night. Enjoy a digital sea of colours played out for you by our media tower.

Other highlights include DJ sets by Lokführer Andi, vintage car rides with the Rolling Museum, “Chanoyu – Japanese Tea Ceremony” tea gatherings, and concerts featuring classical Indian music.

Get to know the entire house in one long night:
In the Humboldt Forum you can expect a programme from the Stiftung Humboldt Forum im Berliner Schloss, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin with the Ethnologisches Museum and the Museum für Asiatische Kunst, as well as the Stadtmuseum Berlin.

Connect with the globe in BERLIN GLOBAL on an interactive tour during the Lange Nacht der Museen and experience how the city and its people are connected to the world – then and now. The exhibitions of the Ethnologisches Museum and the Museum für Asiatische Kunst of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin again offer very different views of past and present cultures of Africa, Asia and Oceania.

Further information on a variety of temporary exhibitions can be found on the Humboldt Forum website.

Short tour of the exhibition “History(ies) of Tanzania”

What stories do these cultural assets tell? Who should tell these stories—a museum in Berlin or the societies from which the “objects” originate? Which stories remain untold or unheard—and why? What significance do cultural belongings have for people in Tanzania, and where does their future lie?

The exhibition was developed in collaboration with the National Museum of Tanzania and in consultation with representatives of various communities in Tanzania. The guided tour of the exhibition provides insights into the origins of the exhibits, addresses questions of restitution, and sheds light on how cultural belongings are handled in museums today. Film interviews in the exhibition give representatives from Tanzania a voice. The tour is rounded off with insights into current debates, e.g., on politics after Tanzania's independence or the renaming of colonial street names.

The exhibition Ts'uu – Cedar. Of Trees and People highlights the significance of the forest in the context of colonial exploitation and commercial use.
