The ‘Labour of Love’ exhibition at the ROAM Projects e.V. project space brings together thirteen artistic perspectives that critically examine the intersections between unpaid work, gender, and social equality.
Curated by Bettina Semmer and the ROAM team, the exhibition opens on Equal Pay Day, symbolically highlighting the tension between artistic production and everyday care work.
Activities traditionally associated with 'women's work' are examined in terms of their ambivalence between fulfilment and hardship, and the exhibition also highlights strategies for improving working conditions through networking, research, and political engagement.
The accompanying programme further explores these themes through various formats, including panel discussions on socio-political classification and artist talks offering insights into the exhibited works.
Alongside works by artists such as Solweig de Barry, Roberta Cotterli and Marta Vovk, the exhibition features a children's painting workshop, emphasising the importance of social participation.
