With its more than 450 years of existence, the Staatskapelle Berlin is one of the oldest orchestras in the world. Founded as a court orchestra in 1570, the ensemble found its artistic home in 1742 with the construction of the Royal Court Opera on Unter den Linden, initiated by Frederick II of Prussia.
