Klezmer dances and Yiddish songs, sounds from the Balkans and Rembetiko: WEDDING KLEZMER devotes itself to this music with all its passion.   The languages of the songs are as numerous and varied as the instruments. The singing is not only in Yiddish and Greek.

The Berlin band has been playing together for more than 20 years.  Most of the musicians met in the Wedding district of Berlin at a workshop given by the composer and trumpeter Paul Brody.

Since then, they have been playing as a quartet and quintet, developing and arranging their own pieces. Uwe Sauerwein, who has been active for decades not only as a soloist in the Berlin Yiddish scene and as a singer in the Kasbek ensemble, has been there for three years.

Stefan Aab (accordion) Jannis Lilge (trumpet, bouzouki, vocals, percussion) Uwe Sauerwein (guitar, vocals) Thomas Gruner-Szur (clarinet, bass clarinet, double bass) Reiner Rowald (double bass, baglama, mandola, vocals)
