After her parents separate, 13-year-old Simi, a city kid from Lagos, has to spend the summer holidays with her grandmother in the countryside. When Simi stumbles upon a mysterious lake full of quicksand, she uncovers her family's secrets. What is the legend of the missing children all about – and does her grandmother know more about it?

Inspired by Nigerian mythology, this exciting adventure novel interweaves three generations of a family living between the city and the countryside.

25th international literature festival berlin

Young programme

The international literature festival berlin [ilb] is one of the most important literary events worldwide. The ilb's Young Programme is a guest at the Parkaue and presents a wide range of readings and workshops. In direct exchange with authors and illustrators from different cultural backgrounds, children and young people can experience and discover the world in all its diversity through reading, discussing and trying things out together. Another key aim is to introduce young readers to the extraordinary and courageous positions taken by international children's and young adult literature in terms of aesthetics, literature and content.

The international literature festival berlin is organised by its supporting association, the Peter Weiss Foundation for Art and Politics. It is financed by funds from the Capital Cultural Fund and additional funding from foundations, cultural institutions and embassies.
