Tomi Paasonen / Queer Church Of Ballet

After creating the contemporary queer ballets Attitude and Pas de Q, Tomi Paasonen is now developing his latest choreography with his Queer Church of Ballet.

Consisting of two queer ballet dancers, a drag artist, a burlesque dancer and a trans performer, the eclectic cast embarks on a search for happiness. In a time offering little cause for joy or celebration, the question arises once again: what strategies, methods or paths can be employed to overcome the current apocalyptic mood?

Happy Hour corresponds to the pursuit of short-term bliss and a rather melancholic sentiment. What resources give strength?

This dance piece seeks inspiration and answers from forms of spirituality, religion, nature and psychology, as well as from distractions such as entertainment, drugs, sex and psychedelics and the queer ability to transform everything into joy. Poetic and absurd scenes based on the performers' life experiences are created to reflect their path to self-realisation in a world gone haywire.
