Announcement -> World Heritage Day Sun, 5 June 2022

Built in 1925-30, Bruno Taut’s Hufeisensiedlung is probably the most outstanding example of innovative German town planning. In 2008 the estate grouped around an iconic horseshoe-shaped building was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status. The ensemble in Neukölln-Britz enjoys international renown as a milestone of social building reforms and modern urban housing policy.

It is fun to stroll through this mixture of carefully arranged townhouses and modernistic apartment blocks to experience the rural charm of the carefully woven streets and public spaces.

The tour takes approximately two hours, reveals Taut´s unique mastership and takes you to the most iconic views and some hidden paths (if the group is not too large).

11.00–13.00: Guided Tour in English
Meeting point: U7, subway station ”Blaschkoallee”
(exit Fritz-Reuter-Allee)

In 1998 the whole ensemble became privatized, which is why the listed row houses are now owned by more than 600 individual owners. This gave birth to various preservation and communication projects, in which the guide was deeply involved. At the end of the tour participants have the chance to visit the exhibition at the Infostation neighborhood café.

P.S.: Please note that the authors´s project TAUTES HEIM – an awarded museum-like holiday home in 1920s style – can not be visited, since the house will be rented during pentecoast.
