Film&Talk#2030 - Season 16
Leipzig in 1989: Germany is divided into East and West. Twelve-year-old friends Fritzi and Sophie aren't bothered by this at all – until Sophie and her mother are forced to flee to the West.
There, they struggle with prejudices against "those from over there," but above all with homesickness. Fritzi's attempt to at least bring Sophie her dog, Sputnik, fails at the heavily guarded border.
It becomes clear to Fritzi: Only the fight for freedom in her country can bring them together again.
The eight-part animated series about the Peaceful Revolution is based on the film "Fritzi – A Miracle Story of the Change" and the book "Fritzi Was There" by Hanna Schott.
The first four episodes will be shown.
Following the film, there will be a discussion with the screenwriters Beate Völker and Martin Muser.
