Erobique’s Grand Garden Party

Carsten “Erobique” Meyer is a genre of his own. Over the past 25 years, every passing wave of disco revival has come and gone—without ever quite catching him. And yet, whenever it’s announced that “Erobique is in Berlin,” dance-loving crowds aged 18 to 80 know exactly what to expect: sweaty, almost sacred hours filled with improvised disco licks and wild vocal performances.

As Germany’s self-proclaimed (for now) last discopunk, the “living disco ball” (FAZ) delights in breaking the monotony of beat-matched laptop DJ culture. Instead, he pulls his audience into high-energy dance marathons, mixing in spontaneous ballads and chaotically quoted wedding oldies. His releases are rare (Mirau, Acid Jazz, Asexy).
