On 14 September, it will be that time again: Open Monument Day will be celebrated throughout Germany – this year under the motto ‘Valuable: priceless or irreplaceable?’.


The Hannes Meyer Campus in Bernau-Waldfrieden is also taking part and invites visitors to enjoy a colourful and varied programme from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the former ADGB Federal School, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2017.


The programme at a glance:


• Former ADGB Federal School (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
Visitors will gain an insight into the listed ensemble of the former Federal School. The Bauhaus architecture will be vividly conveyed at several information points in selected rooms.

Exhibition ‘Preserving monuments as an opportunity – sustainable renovation, conscious design’ with projects by Brenne Architekten


• Bernau Visitor Centre
11 a.m.–4 p.m.: Permanent exhibition on the history of the construction and use of the former ADGB Federal School
11 a.m.–4 p.m.: Creative workshops ‘Typical Bauhaus’ and ‘Bauhaus’
11 a.m. & 2 p.m.: Watercolour painting with artist Silvia Sasse (bbb e.V.)
1 p.m.: Live music with Jan Diller and friends

11 a.m.–4 p.m.: Guided tours of the Waterstradt building
