Brigitte Meier-Denninghoff (1923–2011) was one of the few German female sculptors and draftsmen to achieve international recognition in the 1950s–1970s.

She was the only female sculptor and the only woman to co-found the ZEN 49 group. Milestones in her success include invitations to the documenta in Kassel in 1959 and 1964 and to the Venice Biennale in 1962. She received major art awards and is featured in key publications on sculpture after 1945. Nevertheless, she is often perceived today merely as part of the successful Berlin duo Matschinsky-Denninghoff.

The exhibition comprehensively evaluates the estate for the first time. It includes a wealth of previously unknown material, including sculptures, drawings, and documents related to Brigitte Meier-Denninghoff. These offer a new perspective on the artist’s early work.
