The KROSS COLLECTIVE presents: CONVERGENCE IX, an evening of immersive performances in which sound, text, and image merge into a unique sensory experience.
For their ninth edition, they welcome visual artist Keiji Matsuoka from Japan, who will perform alongside musician Makoto Sakamoto. drusnoise & Erbse present their performance "Can you hear the Earth breathing?", which revolves around improvisation that dissolves the boundaries between humans and nature and decenters the Western concept of "human" in performance. The evening will be rounded out by the collective akademische Noise, highly skilled poets (Laura Leiner, Rocío Rodríguez, and Elsye Suquilanda), and Kross Collective co-founder MIRE.
Biographies of the participating artists
Keiji Matsuoka
A visual artist from Japan. He focuses primarily on the fluid movements of liquids, creating improvised visual performances that project live drawings from paper, wire, brushes, glass, and other objects. The flow and mixing of liquids is full of chance and improvisation. He has collaborated with many musicians, dancers, and performers in Japan and abroad. His unique theme of ambiguous boundaries allows him to express subconscious sensations and shifts in consciousness. In his solo performances, he presents visuals and sounds simultaneously in a style he calls "Drawing Drone."

Makoto Sakamoto
Makoto Sakamoto is a Japanese sound artist and improviser based in Berlin, working at the intersection of electronic and experimental music. He explores the relationship between sound, space, and human perception, frequently utilizing real-time synthesis via multiple hardware synthesizers. His improvisational approach invites viewers into unexpected events, blending waveforms and electronic sound textures into tangible, unadulterated sonic experiences. This method emphasizes the immediacy and physicality of sound, resulting in performances and compositions that are both responsive and immersive.

MIRE
MIRE is the sound project of Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist Andreea Hriscu, co-founder of the Kross Collective. Working with dark ambient, drone, and noise, MIRE crafts long-form, improvised compositions using synthesizers, computer processes, and field recordings. The result is immersive soundscapes shaped like fluid architecture—at once intimate and vast, hovering between industrial decay and underwater silence.
Described as "music forged in flooded ruins" and "a craggy key to a utopian mirage," MIRE's soundworld shimmers in a tension between structure and entropy, silence and annihilation. Releases include "We Left No Message" (LOUDsilence) and "All That Time" with Grabschlamm (ArrhythNia), as well as over a dozen independent works. Previous performances include Convergence, Hosek Contemporary, and Poetic Hafla—each act a fleeting organism, whispered once, then vanished.
