High Culture Meets Subculture Exhibition and Piano Recital

Term Shon / Opus 90 presents a unique exhibition: The 10 greatest composers from the Classical to the Romantic era are depicted on canvas in the old-school graffiti style of the 1990s. He performs works by Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven.

Classical meets modern

"Opus 90" is the name of Berlin-based graffiti artist Term Shon, known for his paintings of old-school B-boy and hip-hop figures. The name "Opus 90" refers to the artist's focus on the aesthetics and culture of 1990s hip-hop and graffiti, with "90" signifying this era.

Music

Term Shon, born in Seoul, South Korea, and raised in West Berlin, has been playing piano since the age of four. He primarily learned from his mother, the pianist Heesook Ahn, as well as from Professor Klaus Bäßler (Hans Eisler School of Music Berlin) and the renowned piano pedagogue Hans Peter Leygraf. After a hiatus of about 20 years, he resumed playing the piano in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Graffiti

Term Shon/OPUS 90 belongs to the second generation of graffiti pioneers in Berlin. He was active from 1986 until the mid-1990s. Instead of lettering, his focus was on hip-hop B-boy characters.

After a 30-year break, he resumed painting B-boy characters during the COVID-19 pandemic, picking up where he had left off without any outside influences. Today, as OPUS 90, he is one of the best old-school B-boy character painters of our time—one of the last who can paint faithfully and stylistically authentically.

Graffiti The Classic X Graffiti format is a continuation of the first successful event held during the COVID-19 pandemic.
