The French Friedrichstadt Church, known together with its tower as the "French Cathedral," was built at the beginning of the 18th century as a Reformed church for the Huguenots and, together with the German Cathedral and the Concert Hall, forms the defining ensemble of the Gendarmenmarkt.
Despite severe damage during World War II, it was rebuilt in the 1970s and 1980s and today serves both as a historical landmark and as a versatile venue for church services, concerts, and exhibitions.
