Classic Open Air: A musical summer fairytale on the Gendarmenmarkt
In the summer of 2026, the Gendarmenmarkt in the heart of Berlin will once again be transformed into an enchanting stage. From July 09th to 12st, the Classic Open Air Festival invites you to experience musical highlights in the midst of the impressive historical backdrop - an incomparable interplay of world-class music and romantic summer flair.The Classic Open Air will be officially opened on 9 July 2026 by the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, based at the Gendarmenmarkt, under the baton of principal conductor Joana Mallwitz.
Pure summer feeling will be in the air on 10 July 2026 with Giovanni Zarrella and his ‘Italian Summer Night – Part II’.
On 11 July 2026, ‘Joja Wendt & Friends’ will combine virtuoso musical performance with atmospheric entertainment when exceptional pianist Joja Wendt welcomes his star guests to the stage.
The festival will come to a spectacular close on 12 July 2026 with David Garrett, considered by many to be the best crossover violinist of all time, performing his current Millennium Symphony programme.

The Classic Open Air has been a firmly established highlight of Berlin's cultural calendar for over 30 years and is organised by Media On-Line Management GmbH & Co. Classic Open Air KG, a company of DEAG Deutsche Entertainment AG, under the direction of Jacqueline Zich and Sabine Schiller (managing directors) and Mario Hempel (shareholder & partner).
The concerts are planned as open-air events and will generally take place regardless of the weather. Should the weather make the event impossible, please check the organizer's website.
