Hans Baldung, known as Grien, is one of the outstanding artists of the German-speaking Renaissance. During the period of confessionalization, he painted a series of Madonnas whose iconography differs from anything that had come before. For example, the Grunewald Madonna in Berlin is disturbing due to her visible nakedness beneath her red cloak.
Speakers: Dr. Sabine Engel, University of the Arts, and Pastor Hannes Langbein, Director of the St. Matthäus Foundation
