The Spandau Choir Association will perform brilliant choral works by Luigi Cherubini and opera choruses by Rossini, Verdi, Tchaikovsky, Bizet and others at the Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt.
Luigi Cherubini (1760-1842), an Italian living in Paris, composed magnificent operas and brilliant church music. Celebrated by his contemporaries, he is now unjustly almost forgotten. It is high time to rediscover him!
The Spandau Choir Association, together with the Berlin Boys' Choir, the Vogtland Philharmonic Orchestra and three soloists, will present a cross-section of Cherubini's work. Oliver Spieker will guide the audience through the programme as narrator, bringing the exciting life of this musical genius to life.
After the interval, well-known and lesser-known opera choruses by Rossini, Verdi, Bizet, Tchaikovsky and Smetana will be performed.
